Frequently Asked Questions
Why is CrossFirst Bank merging with Busey Bank?
Mike Maddox, CrossFirst CEO, President and Director, stated, “Founded on the ideals of extraordinary, personal service provided by outstanding, local bankers, our dedicated associates at CrossFirst have built strong, trusting relationships with our clients and the markets we serve. We believe Busey is the right partner to continue CrossFirst’s customer- and community-focus. Because of our like-minded cultures, our complementary business models and manner in which we operate, we are confident this partnership will create significant benefits for our teams, customers, communities and shareholders.”
How does this merger affect me?
This merger will expand the products, services and capabilities available to our customers. Together, we will offer Wealth Management services, robust payment solutions through FirsTech, expanded lending solutions, and advanced technologies across a larger footprint.
When are changes happening?
While CrossFirst Bank and Busey Bank teams are already working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition, as a customer, you won't experience much change until late June. On June 20, we kick off our "Conversion Weekend," which is when CrossFirst Bank branches, products and services transition to Busey. On June 23, CrossFirst customers will officially become Busey customers. We'll be in touch along the way to share information about what you can expect throughout our timeline leading up to Conversion Weekend and beyond.
What do I need to do?
Right now, there's no action you need to take. As we move forward with our partnership, Busey and CrossFirst Bank will work together to provide ongoing communication about what to expect, what changes you need to take and how to access support along the way.
Will my account number, debit card, products, services or any other major details change?
Changes will not be made before conversion weekend. We will soon be able to provide a definitive answer about the changes you can expect in late June. As soon as we know details, we will update you. You can count on us to provide clear, timely communication about any expected changes you'll experience to ensure you have the resources and information you need well in advance.
Where is Busey located?
A map of our current footprint is below. Locate your nearest Busey banking centers at busey.com/locations.

Will the bank's name change?
During the transition process, CrossFirst Bank will continue operating under its current name. On June 23, the transition will be complete and we will serve our customers together as Busey Bank.
Why do bank materials appear differently than in the past?
During the transition, we will be including both logos on our materials. Beginning on June 23, all materials will reflect the Busey logo.
Who should I call with questions?
Until June 23, CrossFirst customers should continue contacting CrossFirst Bank as usual with any questions about accounts and services. As we approach this conversion date, we will be sending additional details including any specific contact information you may need during or after conversion.
Where can I find additional information about future updates?
We will mail you a Welcome Packet in early May, a booklet which will contain details about products, services, and any planned changes. We will also send regular email updates through our In The Know newsletter. You can always visit this microsite, which will be continually updated with the most current information available.
Will my debit card change?
Yes. You'll be receiving a new Busey Debit Mastercard® to replace your CrossFirst debit card. The replacement card will be mailed to you in May and you'll be able to activate it after June 22 with a simple phone call. Once it's activated, you should update any scheduled or automatic transactions, and your digital wallet to reflect your new debit card number.
Wire Transfer Service
All personal and commercial wire transfers conducted outside of online banking must be conducted securely through Busey’s wire desk or in a Busey location. Please note that bankers will no longer be able to manage wire transfers for clients directly.
To conduct wire transfers with Busey on June 23, you must complete a Busey Wire Transfer Agreement, establish a new PIN and return your signed PIN acknowledgement before June 18. Busey will send current CrossFirst Bank wire transfer customers new wire transfer agreement forms in early April, and PIN details once wire agreement forms are returned. As of June 23, incoming domestic and international wire transfers must use Busey’s wire transfer information, outlined below. Please note that CrossFirst Bank’s routing number will be retired. Busey’s routing number is 071102568.
